The ocean is filled with fascinating creatures and beautiful fish of every imaginable size, shape, and colour. It’s these strange creatures that lure us under the water as scuba divers. So why not learn more about them with our Fish ID course?
Our Big Blue Fish ID course will teach you the skills and concepts you will need to identify the common families of Indo-Pacific, Red Sea, and Caribbean reef fish. Being able to identify the fish around you on a dive will certainly make a memorable experience!
In the morning, you’ll attend series of presentations on the similarities and differences between fish species, and how a thorough examination of these features can help you to identify the species of the fish you’ve encountered. In the afternoon, you’ll put your new identification skills into practice in the actual ocean on two fish identification fun dives. In no time, you’ll be able to identify all the fish you see around you while you’re out scuba diving!
In order to enrol in this course, you need to be a certified Open Water diver. Big Blue Diving will provide all equipment, boat trips, etc., for the duration of the course.

What comes next?
- Sign up for a full day trip to the best dive site in the Gulf of Thailand – Sail Rock!
- Get your Advanced certification and get certified to dive to 30 metres.
Don’t forget! Because of the extra nitrogen your body builds up while scuba diving, you cannot fly within 24hrs of your last dive.
Are you fit to dive?
Scuba diving is an activity that requires a certain level of physical health. Read this medical questionnaire. If you can answer yes to any of the questions you may require medical clearance to enrol in a diving course. Contact us for more information.
