This year’s theme, ‘Sustaining What Sustains Us’, is a beautiful reminder that the ocean gives us life.
Now it’s time for us to give back.
The ocean covers over 71% of our planet, producing more than half of the world’s oxygen and absorbing vast amounts of carbon dioxide. It regulates our climate, provides food, supports millions of livelihoods, and offers countless moments of peace, adventure, and inspiration to those of us lucky enough to experience it. Whether you’re a diver, snorkeller, beach walker, or just someone who loves the sound of waves — the ocean sustains us all.

Can’t make it to the island? No worries — grab a bag and hit your local beach, riverbank, or dive site. Every piece of rubbish you remove makes a difference.
Pause and Appreciate the Ocean:
Spend a few minutes today by the shore, underwater, or simply looking out at the horizon.
Reflect on how the ocean sustains you personally — whether through your work, your hobbies, your travels, or your mental well-being.
Make a Small Eco-Switch:
Switch to reef-safe sunscreen.
Say no to single-use plastics.
